[shadow=red,left,300]
Full Name: Aang, protoge of Monk Gyatso
Age: 116
Affiliation: Air Nomad Tribes
Bending: Bender, Avatar State
Appearance:Black haired but normally shaven in a monk's garb, Aang has grown slightly since his confrontation with the previous firelord. Irises gray as the dimming clouds that hover over Monk Gyatsu's grave, the former avatar has matured in height and strength- having now acclimatized to the rough peaks that adorn the Air Nation summit. His movements are more pronounced and gentle in accordance with the Taoist and Buddhist nature of nonintervention in the killing arts, and his expansion into the spirit element that the avatar serves as a medium to has quelled the fiercest aspects of war immediately following the disposal of the Phoenix King. However this has led to a more secluded lifestyle, and the Avatar's physical changes reflect that in his growing maturity.
Personality: With the seclusion of Aang's new lifestyle the world below has gone unheeded, listening calmly to the advice of the Fire Lord's uncle to understand that the active intervention of the Avatar is not needed in shaping the new world. Focusing instead on the development of energybending and the mastery of his art, the current avatar has instead focused on rebuilding the air temples under the careful teachings of the former avatars and the nonviolent practices of inner discipline as a monk. Without contact from the outside world for so long, he has grown quiet and contemplative, yet will show a more cheerful and exuberant side around those who he can let down his guard with as easily as he might address the Fire Lord Zuko himself. Time was a perilous mistress, but only the foolish truly thought themselves wise. After years of trying to establish his inner tranquility, the disturbing fate of the world has been relayed upon his temple in the form of momo's correspondence with the aging royal advisor Iroh, and Aang has begun steeling his reclusive personality to reacquaint himself with the world at large.
Family: Unknown
History: Aang was born to two unnamed Airbenders in 12 BSC who gave him to the monks at the Southern Air Temple. As an Air Nomad, Aang has traveled extensively around the world. During his childhood, Aang was housed, raised and educated at his home, the Southern Air Temple, under the custody of Monk Gyatso who served as both a father figure and a counselor for Aang. When Aang turned six years old, he and several other young Air Nomad boys were taken to the Eastern Air Temple where they would each choose a Sky Bison to be their lifelong companion. Aang approached his soon-to-be pet Sky Bison Appa and offered him an apple which Appa accepted, thus marking the start of their friendship. At the age of six, Aang was a better Airbender than kids twice his age, and at the age of ten, Aang proved to be a better Airbender than his own teachers.
While still a young boy, Aang had unconsciously revealed himself to be the Avatar when he chose the four Avatar Relics from thousands of toys to play with. Due to the signs of a possible war, Aang was told about his status as the Avatar at age twelve, four years earlier than the traditional age of sixteen, after exhibiting prodigious talent with his native element, Air. Aang felt burdened by his status and came to spend more time practicing Airbending with the monks than playing with his friends as he was used to. Monk Gyatso was the only one to show understanding to Aang's burden (having been good friends with Avatar Roku, Aang's past life) and tried to help ease Aang through the transition from childhood to adulthood by providing Aang with balance through fun during the upheaval in his life.
However, after learning that he'd be sent to the Eastern Air Temple in order to complete his Airbending training far away from Monk Gyatso, who other monks thought to be too soft on him, Aang attempted to run away on his flying bison Appa. Shortly after running away, Aang and Appa were caught in a storm, crashing in the water and being swallowed by the waves. Aang saved himself and Appa while semi-unconscious by entering the Avatar State, freezing the two in a sphere of ice by using a combination of Airbending and Waterbending. A hundred years later, the Avatar was reborn.
Other Background: Trained in the mastery of the elements, hobbies include gliding, penguin sliding, and most recently stone carving. The latter mostly out of necessity to restore the visages of former avatars within the temples, it has served to good effect.
Current Status: Wandering Monk
Likes: Flying, Meditation, and self reflection
Dislikes: Losing control, killing, and abandoning his friends
Strengths: Bending and Agility
Weaknesses: Willpower and Physical Strength
Desires: Karmic enlightenment (Monk)
