Velox stood in the courtyard, breathing heavily, as he gripped two knives in his hand and stared down his sand-bag-dummy target that remained in the center of his training circle. A number of weapons and training items were in a pile off to the side, ready for use later in the day, and the clouds drifting overhead let in just the perfect amount of sunlight to make it a nice day out. He had barely been back in Ba Sing Sey for more than a day after returning from the wedding, but already he had an idea of how his daily routine would go.
Right now it was morning, and the cool breeze signaled that it was the perfect time to train, calm ones mind, and burn calories before one of those extra large meals that the palace seemed to enjoy serving. From his spot in the courtyard, he could also watch for any would-be intruders that the guards missed, and greet any guests that had come to visit the now-absent earth queen. As her consort, it was his job to oversee such things while she was away. Though he was doubtful at first, her hard-working staff and the presence of Shang-Hui had begun to reassure him. If he ever needed help, he knew who to turn to.
When afternoon came, he planned to spend time in the library, almost everyday if he can. In that place, it would be easy to call him when a guest came, and he could put effort into expanding his mind, and developing strategies against fights with the triad. The war as a whole was not his forte, he was an excellent combat strategist and hoped he could provide help to the earth nation soldiers who would be going into such battles.
But, that was later. Right now it was time for training, time for calming the mind, to burn off the fat he had accumulated. With a quick dash, Velox sprinted toward his target and rolled forward, slashing at the sandbags with his knife before immediately twisting around and throwing the other knife into what would have been his back. He sighed and stood up straight. The underground tournament was not far away, and would be his perfect chance to find some leads on the triad. The problem was that it was a tournament for teams of 2 or 3 people, and by himself he would be disqualified.
